Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club surf team donations.

At our October general meeting President Bing Cosby presented a $1000 donation check to the El Camino High School Surf Team. OLSC has been a proud sponsor of the El Camino High School Surf Team for several years.

The teams outgoing coach¬†Adam Leste gave a gracious acceptance speech listing all the different ways the team uses the money including entry fees for competitors that otherwise would not be able to compete. This donation and how the funds are used is a prime example of the mission of the Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club “to promote and foster the amateur sport of surfing.”

Another deserving donation recipient of the Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club was the Scholastic Surf Series. The Scholastic Surf Series is a division of the Western Surfing Association which is dedicated to bringing team surf competitions to High Schools and Middle Schools from San Diego to Santa Barbara. A long time OLSC member and tabulator for our annual event Caroline Cramer received the $1000 donation for the SSS.

The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club has a long and proud history of supporting amaetuer surfing. 2019 will mark our 35th Annual Contest and Beach Festival. Our event promotes the amateur sport of surfing by inviting coalition surf teams from up and down the coast of California to compete in our illustrious event. Each year our event has a theme where we celebrate a group or individual. This years event we are celebrating Women in Surfing.

In 2018 our theme was First Responders. Our club combined forces with the Oceanside Firefighters Union and contributed to them holding their own surf contest on the northside of Oceanside Pier. Their event ran in conjunction with ours, sharing the bandshell, beer garden and post event luau. Our club also participated in promoting a fundraiser for the family of a fallen firefighter.

The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club is an integral part of our community. From hosting our own 3 day coalition surf contest and beach festival, supporting our cities first responders, participating in beach clean ups, holding family oriented activities related to the beach, promoting the history and culture of our sport through donations to the Oceanside Surf Museum as well as supporting our local surf teams and the individual competitors.
